We are a volunteer host site!
Battleship Cove is the world's largest collection of historic naval ships. Our mission is to provide the public with an educational experience to honor patriotism and country.
The museum began in 1965 with Fall River's acquisition of the World War II battleship USS Massachusetts and the formation of the non-profit USS Massachusetts Memorial Committee. In time, other ships joined her under the Braga Bridge: the destroyer USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr, the submarine USS Lionfish, the Soviet missile corvette Hiddensee, and two rare PT Boats. Of these ships, five are designated National Historic Landmarks.
Battleship Cove is designated the official state memorial for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for World War II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars, and site of the official 9/11 Memorial. This being said, we do not receive any State or Federal funding for our operations.
In 2012, the museum received the prestigious Governor’s Award as one of the top 25 “Must See” attractions in the Commonwealth. Since 1965, we've had over 6 million visitors.
Battleship Cove offers an abundance of volunteer opportunities.
